Did you know that in 2022, we received over 150 grey squirrels and 32 red squirrels? These squirrels in distress were either orphans or injured squirrels.

At SOS Miss Dolittle, we receive a large number of orphaned squirrels every year. All of them have lost their mothers under different circumstances: mother trapped and relocated, baby found alone, nest destroyed due to construction, tree pruning, or human intolerance, etc. Many injured, hit, or mange-ridden squirrels also need our help.

The photo shows the little grey squirrel, Mr. Popeye. He was found in a cat's mouth when he was only a few weeks old and had his eyes closed. He was taken to the shelter, seen by our veterinarian, and given antibiotics. He also had a fractured hind leg and had to wear a small bandage for several weeks. Fortunately, Mr. Popeye was strong by nature and survived the whole ordeal. He now roams in nature and lives his squirrel life, thanks to the care of SOS Miss Dolittle.
