Do you love animals? Would you like to make a difference for these little creatures you love so much?
At SOS Miss Dolittle, we receive between 15 and 30 bats annually. These small creatures are not well known, but they are essential to our ecosystem because they eat insects. Unfortunately, their populations have been declining for several years.
The majority of bats admitted to SOS Miss Dolittle were found in homes by citizens. Bats hibernate during the winter, but they can wake up under certain conditions (mild weather, illness, etc.). When they wake up, they find themselves in the houses or buildings where they hibernate. At this time, they cannot be released outside because our winter temperatures are too cold.
SOS Miss Dolittle acts as a hibernaculum for bats! We receive bats found in homes during the winter. They are examined, weighed, fed, and placed in artificial hibernation for the rest of the winter, before being released in the spring. The hibernation process at the shelter is complex, requires special facilities, and close monitoring of their health throughout the winter.
We offer you the chance to become a bat sponsor for $100. This amount will help us pay for medical care, hibernation facilities, mealworms for food, and many other costs associated with their rehabilitation.
By agreeing to become a bat sponsor, here's what you'll receive:
● You can choose your animal's name;
● You will receive a beautiful sponsorship certificate with your animal's name and your name (by email) (see photo);
● You will receive regular videos and news about your animal on Messenger;
● You will receive the video of its release;
● Of course, a charitable donation receipt will be issued to you.
** BATS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR SPONSORSHIP WILL BE RELEASED IN MAY 2026 **
Note: Sponsorship follow-up is ONLY done via Messenger. If you do not have a Facebook account, you will not be able to sponsor an animal.
***Please note: SOS Miss Dolittle is a wildlife rehabilitation center. Animals often arrive injured, orphaned, or sick. It is possible that during its rehabilitation process, despite all our efforts, an animal's condition may deteriorate, sometimes leading to its death or requiring euthanasia. In such a case, you will be privately informed with explanations.
And, if you wish, you can buy a bat plush, available in our shop: Bat Plush Toy
